Description:

A thought-provoking and powerful documentary film on the current and historical root causes of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and US government involvement. 'Occupation 101' presents a comprehensive analysis of the facts and hidden truths surrounding the never-ending controversy and dispels many of its long-perceived myths and misconceptions. The film also details life under Israeli military rule, the role of the United States in the conflict, and the major obstacles that stand in the way of a lasting and viable peace. Unlike any other film produced on the conflict, 'Occupation 101' explains the complicated reality with precision storytelling through a series of highly stylized visual edits, and gives audiences a complete context with which to better understand the Israeli-Palestinian debate. The roots of the conflict are explained with thought-provoking commentaries from leading Middle East scholars, peace activists, journalists, religious leaders and humanitarian workers whose voices have too often been suppressed in American media outlets. 2007 International Beverly Hills Film Festival Winner of the Golden Palm Award (given to the best film in all categories). Strongly recommended for anyone who is interested in more information on the human rights struggle in this part of the world. The film has reliable sources and contributors.

5A must see for everyone !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1  Sep 22, 2009
It shows you the other side of the story that the Zionist media doesn't want you to see.. An eye opener!

4Fundamentally accurate  Jun 20, 2009
One could quibble about a lot of little things and, yes, as an earlier reviewer wrote, "It tells the story of the Palestinian side" rather than pretending to present both sides. But I have studied and written about the conflict and visited Israel and Palestine (West Bank and Gaza) and talked at length with people from just about every perspective, and I would have to say that the film is fundamentally on track. And this should not be surprising: occupation is terrible. As an American (and an American Jew), I can see no justification for our country's totally one-sided support of Israeli policies. Yes, Palestinian violence against Israeli civilians is wrong (and speakers in the film all say that), but (as the film also emphasizes) the core of the problem is occupation. President Obama needs to say that loud and clear. And I'd like to see PBS have the courage to show this documentary followed by a panel presenting arguments for and against.

4Very good documentary  Jun 01, 2009
Very good documentary. Due to a slightly longer than wished to see introduction I did not give it 5*, other wise very good all rounder. Could be watched in conjunction with 50 years war available in DVD from Amazon The 50 Years War - Israel & The Arabs or in a much cheaper VHS The 50 Years War: Israel and the Arabs [VHS] which I originaly watched back in 1998 on the British TV.

1pure garbage  May 06, 2009
I watched this film, and there isn't one sentence that is true, valid, accurate, or insightful.

The Palestinian suffering is ENTIRELY because of the Arabs who keep them in refugee camps, and because of their own self-destructive and barbaric behavior.

The day western civilization gets wise and slaughters millions of Arabs will be a glorious day
